September 7th marks the 378th anniversary of the founding of Boston. This year’s annual celebration will highlight the city’s civic spirit, long-standing institutions and the first class cultural and intellectual activities that have made Boston a special place in which to live.

The four day schedule of 2008 Charter Day Events, coordinated by the Partnership of the Historic Bostons with actively participating prestigious organizations, presents an ambitious and informative series of cultural and educational programs. They reflect Boston’s origins in England and Massachusetts and offer a real opportunity to explore the shared legacies of Boston, Lincolnshire, England, founded in 1086, and Boston, Massachusetts, founded in 1630.

Plans for the 2009 celebration are already being made and any ideas for events in future years should be submitted to Prof. Wilfred Holton, President of the Partnership of Historic Boston. Idea submissions should be emailed to Prof. Holton with the heading Boston Charter Day Ideas.
