BOSTON CHARTER DAY 2007 EVENTS SCHEDULE
SEPTEMBER 6th thru 9th
|
September
7th marks the 377th anniversary of Boston's creation as a formal
political entity.
On September 7, 1630, Trimountaine was renamed Boston
and declared the capital of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Boston
Charter Day events highlight
the civic spirit, longstanding institutions and first-class cultural
and intellectual life of Boston.
2007 Charter Day Events are
coordinated by The Partnership of the Historic Bostons.

7:00 PM PresentationMuseum staff will present an insider’s view of the preparation and assembly of an upcoming exhibit of the Commonwealth’s Treasures. The museum is planning to display rare original materials from the Massachusetts Archives collections; including Royal Charters, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. The panel will discuss exhibit design and content, the use of technology in the interactive displays, and rare document conservation issues.

The Boston Founders Trail Walking Tour has been created by The Partnership of the Historic Bostons, a not-for-profit organization that celebrates the historical links between Boston, Massachusetts and Boston, Lincolnshire in England. Walkers will get an historical view of the small town founded in 1630.
The tour, which runs for two hours, is guided by Professor Will Holton of Northeastern University, President of The Partnership of the Historic Bostons or Stephen Busby, a professional tour guide in Boston since 1993 and Tour Manager for the Boston Stock Exchange.
TOURS 10:00 a.m. – Noon 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
